He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.” -Mark 9:36-37

Location:   The Nursery Hallway, located on the ground level hallway to your right as you enter the Welcome Center.  Each room on this hallway is labeled with the age group of children assigned for that room.
Time: From 6 pm- 8 pm during the ESL Class
Ages: From 6 weeks- 8th Grade
Activities: While parents are busy with their classes or small group meetings, we provide children with age appropriate activities that lend to our Nursery Ministry. Infants and toddlers are exposed to God through song and interactive play with the other babies and our trained nursery staff. If they are tired we will happily rock and read or sing to them about Jesus. For school age children, we have two playgrounds, a gym, a multipurpose room filled with games and crafts to keep us busy. Children are always offered the opportunity to play either in the gym or one of the two playgrounds. Afterwards, we provide homework help or an alternating activity of the children’s choice, usually from the following: story time, board games, crafts, interactive science experiments, watch a movie, etc.

FAQ

The first thing to do is to call us and share the good news of the birth of your baby!  (256-734-6690).  The Coordinator of Church Operations, Jeanne Yalsh, will arrange an announcement in our Newsletter and the United Methodist Women will place a rose bud on the altar in honor of your new arrival.  (Make sure to pick up the flower on Sunday after church).
You are welcome to bring your baby with you to worship or Sunday School. We do have an excellent Nursery Program and we encourage you to take advantage of our professional and caring nursery environment. The nursery suite is located on the right hand hall way when entering the Welcome Center.
We take great pride in the quality of both our nursery staff and facilities because we understand that providing a safe, pleasant and clean environment is important in the spiritual development of children. Our nursery rooms are staffed with professionals who are CPR certified, undergo background checks, and are approved by our Safe Sanctuary (Child Protection) Policy.
When you enter the nursery suite, please sign your child in on the forms provided (in the hallway). A staff person is in each room to welcome your child into his or her appropriate room. Pagers are available on the sign-in table. Each pager has a number on it, please put this number on your child’s form.
Sunday School begins for children when they turn two. All Sunday School classes are formed in August, and follow the ages grouped by school year.
You can contact Elizabeth Gervais, Nursery Coordinator via email at elizabethgervais@gmail.com or Melissa Betts, Director of Children’s Ministries. The office phone number is 256-734-6690.
Pagers are available for parents should a child become sick or cannot be comforted after 15 minutes. Daily sheets are kept on each child and given to the parent at the time of pick up for infants and toddlers. Preschool and School age children are signed in and out of Children’s Programs.
